The rocket is shot by air and water pressure. Our teacher had a special launching contraption, that with one tug of a string, would release the bottle. First, we filled up the bottle half way with water. Once the bottle was in the air, the water would act as an accelerator, making the rocket go higher. Yet, the air was what made the bottle pop and shoot at all in the first place. We used a tire pump to get all the air in, and once it was released, boy it really went high.
In my opinion, out rocket was the best. Now, I'm sure veryone would say that about their own rocket, but I believe ours really took home the prize. While others zig-zagged and flew onto the roof, our bottle rocket flew straight up and then came straight down. It didn't stay together everytime, but ti was never destroyed completely or lost on top of the building. On the third and final flight, our rocket flew onto its side and twirled down, landing in one of the softest ways we had seen all day. Our rocket really was amazing!!
